The 2024 Global Citizen Festival is scheduled to take place on September 28 on Central Park's Great Lawn. Global Citizen, the world's premier international advocacy organization dedicated to ending extreme poverty, today revealed the lineup.

The festival's headliners this year are Post Malone, Doja Cat, Jelly Roll, and Rauw Alejandro. More acts will be revealed in the upcoming weeks. Hugh Jackman, Global Citizen Ambassador, will emcee the event. Chris Martin of Coldplay, curator of the Global Citizen Festival, and Jane Goodall, DBE, founder of the Jane Goodall Institute & UN Messenger of Peace, will also make appearances.

Infectious diseases are still spreading, the hunger crisis is getting worse, debt is getting higher, and last year was the hottest on record. In the meantime, governments everywhere are cutting back on their aid to other countries; this year, more than half of the G7 countries have suggested reductions. The vulnerability of the world's most vulnerable communities is a pressing concern, even in light of the growing divide between what the world needs and what appears to be politically feasible. In order to save tomorrow, the international community must act now to support frontline organizations, invest in life-saving technologies, and take action now.

The 2024 Global Citizen Festival aims to address the major issues that perpetuate extreme poverty around the world. Tickets to the Global Citizen Festival are free and can be obtained by taking action on the Global Citizen app or at globalcitizenfestival.com to demand change from governments and business leaders. This year, global citizens everywhere will unite to demand immediate action to:

Defeat Poverty

The G7 nationsCanada, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, the UK, and the US—are being urged by Global Citizen to step up their support for global anti-poverty initiatives. This includes increasing their financial contributions to the International Development Association (IDA), the World Bank's fund that aims to eradicate poverty in the 75 lowest-income nations worldwide by at least 25%.

Over 1.5 billion people would benefit from social and economic development if an IDA replenishment of at least $100 billion is reached. This includes addressing the issue of malnutrition that affects over 40 million women and children annually, giving 250 million people access to electricity by 2030, and promoting domestic investment in healthcare, agriculture, and education.

In collaboration with Bridgewater Associates, Harith General Partners, and the Côte d'Ivoire government, Global Citizen will be hosting the Economic Development Assembly in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire on October 9–10, just days after the festival, as part of their campaign for the IDA replenishment. Furthermore, the remaining Special Drawing Rights—a unique form of money from the IMF—that Japan, the UK, Australia, the UAE, Qatar, Canada, Norway, and Korea possess must be transferred to Multilateral Development Banks. This will raise $80 billion for the green transition and pandemic preparedness for underprivileged nations.

Defend the Planet

Businesses, charitable organizations, and governments are being urged by Global Citizen to invest $1 billion in protecting and restoring the Amazon rainforest. This investment would include aiding indigenous communities, who are responsible for 80% of the world's biodiversity. The Amazon is essential to slowing climate change because it is one of the world's largest carbon sinks, holding 150 billion tons of carbon, or 15-20 years' worth of global greenhouse gas emissions. In keeping with the historic decision made at COP last year, the EU and G20 nations should also establish clear deadlines for phase-outs of coal, oil, and gas in order to facilitate a fair and quick transition to a green economy and prevent additional suffering caused by climate change.

Demand Equity

Global Citizen is advocating for improved health systems, fair access to wholesome food, and high-quality education. The governments of Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden, and the United States of America must all contribute a minimum of $5 billion to organizations that support fair access to basic necessities for people. The Vaccine Alliance, or Gavi, needs to receive full funding through 2030 in order to help the over 14 million "zero-dose" children who have never received a vaccine that could save their lives.

The Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative, Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance, the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, The International Fund for Agricultural Development, International Labor Organization, United Nations Population Fund Supply Partnership, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and the World Health Organization are among the organizations for which Global Citizen is advocating this year. Additionally, the organization is pushing for domestic resource mobilization for women, health, food, and education. A world where everyone's human rights are upheld and safeguarded is another goal of Global Citizen. This includes the rights of activists and advocates around the globe, especially those who put their lives in danger to combat extreme poverty and save the environment.

In conjunction with the Global Citizen Festival and campaign, Black Surfing Rockaway, The BoweryMission, Breaking Ground, Citymeals on Wheels, Covenant House International, Elevate New York, Expecting Relief, Girl Be Heard, Good Shepherd Services, Outright International, South Asian Youth Action (SAYA), South Bronx Unite, Win (Women in Need), and YMCA of Greater New York – Bed Stuy are just a few of the nonprofit organizations that Global Citizen is proud to support and partner with. Once again, Global Citizen and Everland will work together to support community-centered forest conservation as a way to give back to the environment and offset the estimated carbon emissions of the festival.

Doja Cat stated, "I'm thrilled to work with Global Citizen once more in Central Park this September to drive as much action as we can to make the world a better place. It's been a few years since I was last on the Global Citizen Festival stage in Paris." "Everyone can contribute to the fight against extreme poverty and promote equity. I'm excited to take part in this significant evening of progress.

Hugh Jackman, a Global Citizen Ambassador, said, "I am thrilled to be returning as host of the Global Citizen Festival this fall as a longtime supporter of Global Citizen and its mission." "Global Citizen has saved the lives of almost 1.3 billion people worldwide for more than ten years. On September 28, we'll come together once more to fight extreme poverty, protect the environment, and demand equity. I'm excited to see you all on the Great Lawn of Central Park as we demand change on behalf of the most vulnerable communities on the planet.

"Vital energy, spirituality, and movement are all present in the Amazon rainforest. According to Brazil's First Lady Janja Lula da Silva, "it plays a crucial role in combating the climate emergency, and restoring the Amazon and protecting its people is our responsibility." "We welcome Global Citizen's enormous support as we fight to combat poverty among the most vulnerable populations who are living there and protecting the forest. It is critical that we mobilize various stakeholders and take care of this vital ecosystem for the sake of our shared future. Brazil is prepared to set an exemplary example.
